Lucretia
As a child, my mother ignited my passion for creativity by exposing me to art tours around our hometown Lanark, Ontario. This introduced me to the world of artists, their studios, and their life’s work. I think she was at a loss with me due to the fact I was young, creative and overall naive and this was one of the ways she felt she could expose me to a creative lifestyle. These tours left a lasting impression on me, shaping my perspective at a young age of what it means to live authentically.
In 2010, following a whim and chasing my next adventure, I enrolled at New Brunswick School of Craft and Design (NBCCD), where I quickly discovered my love for silversmithing in the Fine Craft Jewelry Program. After graduating in 2013, I returned to the Ottawa area, but navigating life’s challenges made it difficult to pursue my creative passions with the same fervour.
In 2023, a significant life change provided me with an opportunity to reignite my passion for jewelry creation. I found the strength to pick up the hammer, and try again after fighting off some old demons. Inspired by the love of my cherished white cat, Atari, I founded White Cat Jewelry—a reflection of my eclectic inspirations, including moody weather, gothic elements, symmetry, dark music, and the beauty found in mundane moments.
With a variety of techniques at my disposal, including etching, paint, stamping, and resin, I strive to set my jewelry apart and infuse each piece with a unique story and origin. My aim is to create jewelry that evokes a sense of comfort and belonging, akin to the feeling of contentment brought by a freshly painted wall.
Welcome to White Cat Jewelry, hailing from Gatineau, Québec. I am thrilled to share my passion with you and invite you to explore the pieces that resonate with your own story. Thank you for finding your way here.
